Bryan ISD Inquire & PreAp Summer Reading List - Available NOW

May 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Your son or daughter has enrolled in an Advanced Academics English/Language Arts class for the 2020-2021 school year. Pre- AP/AP and Pre-IB/IB courses are designed to develop the reading, writing, and thinking skills necessary for success in these courses as well as on the Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate examinations. High school students who perform well on AP and IB exams may be eligible to receive college credits in addition to their high school credits.

Pre-AP/AP and Pre-IB/IB courses involve greater content immersion and faster-paced activities than other academic classes; this immersion begins with a summer reading assignment. There are numerous advantages to summer reading, including maintaining reading skills, developing vocabulary, promoting independent learning, and fostering a lifelong love of reading. Students will be expected to participate in classroom activities based on their summer reading upon returning to school in August.

Please refer to the “Bryan ISD 2020 Summer Reading for Advanced Academic Programs” on the following page for a list of reading selections.

We look forward to working with you and your student, and we hope that the 2020-21 school year will be both challenging and rewarding. If you have questions or concerns regarding summer reading, please contact Brandi Morley (6th-12th grades) at brandi.morley@bryanisd.org or Charlene Muehlstein (5th grade) at charlene.muehlstein@bryanisd.org. Thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

The Bryan ISD Advanced Academics and English/Language Arts Teams

Mayo de 2020

Estimados Padres/Tutores:

(6th-12th) a brandi.morley@bryanisd.org o Charlene Muehlstein (5th) a charlene.muehlstein@bryanisd.org. Gracias de antemano por su apoyo.

Sinceramente,

El departamento de Estudios Académicos Avanzados e Inglés/Artes de Lenguaje del Distrito de Bryan
