Welcome to the Arthur L. Davila Middle School 2019-20

August 2019
Dear Davila Texan Scholars and Parents,
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! Our hope is that every scholar feels excited and ready to learn. The Davila Middle School staff has worked tirelessly this summer to prepare for an incredible school year, and we are ready to get started! The first day of school for the 2019-20 school year will be Tuesday, August 20, 2019.
As I begin my seventh year as principal of Davila Middle School, I am especially excited about what we will accomplish as a school. I have been a proud BISD educator for nineteen school years, and have always considered it an honor to support these talented, creative, intelligent, and relational scholars. I also believe that the staff members at Davila Middle are among the most dedicated and committed group of professionals in the area. With your partnership, we will accomplish tremendous things this year!
● As we ended last year we studied the needs of the Davila scholars, we set goals for the coming year, and worked to create plans and prepare for reaching those goals. Areas of focus for our staff and scholars this year are going to be: Increasing scholar performance and achievement in all areas
● Continuing to create a positive school culture for scholars
● Increasing parent and community involvement
● Increasing the number of scholars involved in DMS Texan activities. Athletics, KickStart, Fine Arts programs, Academic UIL teams, scholar Council and Friends of Rachel (FOR) Club are just a few of the activities available for scholars to participate in and become active members of the Davila Teams!
Scholar’s Schedules will be available by grade level. Seventh grade scholars may pick up their schedules on Friday, August 2, between 12:00 and 6:00 in the gym. Eighth grade scholars may pick up their schedules on Monday, August 5, between 12:00 and 6:00 in the gym as well. Also, if your scholar is in need of vaccinations we will have a Vax-a-Nation mobile unit on the 2nd from 2:00-5:00. This is a great opportunity to ensure your child’s vaccinations are up-to-date. The cost is $14 for the first vaccination and $10 for each additional per scholar.
As always, scholars will also bring home important information throughout the first week of school. Please read that information and return it with your son/daughter as soon as possible.
We are here to serve you and provide you with a positive, caring, and challenging learning environment. Each scholar is an important member of our school team, and we believe that working closely with you best supports the scholars. Please call us at (979) 209-7150 if we can help you in any way before the opening of school and once school is underway.
